al Bosque is a hostel with chill and familiar vibes, where you can disconnect from routine and change your surroundings while still feeling at home.

Located in Santa Elena (Medellín-Colombia), between Arví Park and the town center, with a beautiful view over San Nicolas valley, entrance to the forest and easy access both by public and particular transport. It is in an zone surrounded by “silleteras” families, beautiful trails, and delicious restaurants.

A perfect place to enjoy the landscapes, nature, the forest, fresh air, cold weather and a good campfire.

..Ah! .. and we are pet-friendly, so you can also come with your pet.

What kinds of accommodation do we offer?

We have options for all tastes … we have Glampings, private rooms, dormitory and camping area.

The Glamping is a special experience, it is an accommodation option for up to 3 people, where, as in camping, you are outdoors, next to the forest and you can enjoy a good campfire, but with all the necessary comforts to spend a nice night; it wont flood if it rains; you have a bed with good blankets; there is a sofa, a table, light, energy and Internet.

The bathrooms for the Glampings are shared, all comfortable, clean and with a hot shower

We have the safari Glamping, which is a large canvas tent, these ones in particular have a desk to work and a closet.

We also have the Caravan-type Glamping for you to experience sleeping like an overlander, it is a trailer conditioned as a room with an outdoor area with a roof, table and kitchenette.

The private rooms offer a more traditional and even more comfortable experience, they are rooms located inside the hostel, all with a small balcony, independent entrance, desk, television and private bathroom with hot shower.

We also have the special room that has all the amenities of a private room but is bigger, has a large closet, a kit for making tea and coffee in the room and a smart-tv with Netflix.

The dormitory is a shared room with 3 bunk beds, where we offer 5 single beds and 3 double beds, it has its own private bathroom as well as access to the public ones. The beds are semi-private (isolated with wood and curtains), each one has a closet, safety drawer, power socket and independent light.

To camp we have several areas, we have areas for tent camping and for car camping (overlanding), you bring all the necessary equipment for camping and we give you the space to camp, firewood for the campfire, and access to shared areas from the hostel, among which are the kitchen, games room, the lookout, also clean and comfortable bathrooms with a hot shower.

Oh and we also have the Kiosk which is an independent room for a maximum of 4 people, it is private and comfortable but simple, it does not have television and the bathrooms are shared, all comfortable, clean and with a hot shower

How is the caravan Glamping?

The caravan Glamping is a trailer conditioned as a room for you to live the experience of sleeping like an overlander, it can accommodate up to 3 people, it is located outdoors, next to the forest and has all the necessary comforts to have a good night; there is a semi-double bed with good blankets; there is a sofa and a covered outdoor living room with a dining room, kitchenette and a place to enjoy a good campfire.

The bathrooms for the caravan are shared, all comfortable, clean and with a hot shower.

How are the bedrooms?

The private bedrooms are all located inside the hostel, they are comfortable, have a small balcony, independent entrance, desk, television and private bathroom with hot shower.

They have a nice view and a place outside where you can enjoy a private campfire.

We also have the special room that has all the amenities of a private room but is also bigger, it has two environments, a large closet, a kit for making tea/coffee in the room and a smart-tv with access to Netflix.

How is the special bedroom?

The special bedroom has a maximum capacity of 4 people, like the private room is located inside the hostel, it is comfortable, it has a small balcony, independent entrance, desk, television, private bathroom with hot shower, they have a nice view and a place outside where you can enjoy a private campfire.

But also, it has more space, it has two ambiences, a large closet, a kit for making tea / coffee in the room, the television is a smart-tv and it has access to Netflix.

How is the dormitory?

The dormitory is a shared room, it has 3 bunkbeds, with 5 single beds and 3 double beds, so it can accommodate up to 11 people, it has a private bathroom, as well as access to all public bathrooms (all clean, comfortable and with hot shower). The beds are semi-private (insulated with wood and curtains), and each one has a closet, safety drawer, power socket and independent light.

Can we camp there?

We have several areas for camping, you can camp by tent or by car (overlanding), you must bring all the necessary equipment for camping and we give you the space to camp, firewood for the campfire, and access to all the hostel shared areas, among which are the kitchen, games room, lookout and clean, comfortable bathrooms with hot shower.

Can we go camping? (by tent)

We have several camping areas, each group of friends are located in a different area so you can have a little privacy when camping. The camping areas are all flat and have a place to make campfires. You must bring all the necessary elements for camping (tent, plastic, mats, blankets, flashlights, etc). We give you the space to camp, firewood for the campfire, and access to the hostel shared areas, among which are the kitchen, games room, lookout and clean, comfortable bathrooms with a hot shower.

Do you have camping for overlanders?

We have camping for overlanders. We have several areas for camping in your car, all flat and on grass, it can be connected to electricity (110V) and there are points to refill the water tanks with drinking water.

You also have access to all the shared areas of the hostel, including the kitchen (with fridge and oven), games room, lookout and bathrooms (all clean, comfortable and with hot shower).

We also have washing machines that we rent and we can help you refill the gas pipette.

How is the Kiosko?

The Kiosk is an independent room for up to 4 people, is private and comfortable but simple, it does not have a television and the bathrooms are shared, all comfortable, clean and with hot shower.

Can I go but just during the day? (sunny day)

If spending the day in al Bosque is what you want, we offer you the “sunny day”.

You can come from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm and make use of all the shared areas of the hostel (green areas, living room, fireplace, games room, lookout, campfire, bathrooms, kitchen) and visit its surroundings (the forest, roads, restaurants, cafes, silleteras families, etc).

Do you rent tents for camping?

We do not rent camping tents. The only tents that we rent are the safari Glampings, which are large tents that are always set up and furnished.

To do camping you must bring your own tent and all the necessary elements for camping (tent, plastic, mats, blankets, flashlights, etc).

Do the kids have to pay?

Children under 2 years old do not pay; children from 2 to 11 years old pay only half price; and from 12 years old onwards they pay full rate.

Can minors stay at the hostel?

Minors (under 18) can only stay in the hostel if they attend with a responsible adult.

If the adult is the father or mother, there are no restrictions, but if neither parent is attending with the minor and the responsible adult is someone else (another relative, friend, boyfriend, etc.), he or she must present a permit where the father or mother authorizes their son or daughter to stay at the hostel with their companion. If that is the case, please notify us in advance to guide you on how to fill out said permission.

What are the hostel shared areas?

The shared areas of the hostel are:

The main room, where we have the living room with armchairs, sofa and fireplace; we also have board games, library, dining rooms and desks to work.

The games room, where we have a Smart-TV with access to Netflix, video game consoles (ps2 and wii), darts, billiard and ping pong.

The reception, where we have a small shop where we sell sodas, beers, mecato, etc.

The lookout, where you find a super beautiful landscape of Antioquias east where that you can even see “la piedra del peñon”, also sunrises and sunsets look beautiful there. There are some chairs, armchairs and hammocks for you to enjoy this space.

We have several shared bathrooms, all comfortable, clean and with hot showers.

And we have large green areas where you can rest and where you also find an area to make campfires or barbicues and a deck to rest or study … oh, and a “little house in a tree” also with a beautiful landscape.

It is also worth mentioning that we have a direct entrance to the arví park forest that is beautiful and that also has super cool trails to walk.

What else can I do near the hostel?

al Bosque is located in Santa Elena (Medellín-Colombia), between Arví Park and the town park. It has a beautiful view of Antioquia east; entrance to the arví park forest; trails for trekking and biking (some through the forest others through the village); Also, you can also find delicious cafes and restaurants for all tastes nearby.

How do I get to al Bosque?

Getting to al Bosque is super easy whether you come in your vehicle or by public transport.

If you come in your vehicle from Medellín, the most direct way to get here is by taking the road to Santa Elena until you reach the top “El Silletero” (16 km after leaving the city, you can recognize it because there is a virtual roundabout), then turn left towards Arví park and continue for 2.4 km, until the intersection called “3 puertas” (you can guide yourself by counting 3 speed bump from “El Silletero”), at that point turn right and continue for 100mts and on the left you find the entrance of the hostel with its respective sign.

(You can also get here by “Las Palmas”, Guarne or Rionegro).

 

If you come by public transport, the easiest way to get there is by taking the Santa Elena bus in the center of Medellín on Carrera 50 with Calle 41 (half a block from “Placita de Flores”, https://goo.gl/maps/ GBwZ2jtS6a9Nw44DA), tell the dispatcher that you are going to “3 Puertas” so that he will tell you which bus to take, and then tell the driver to let you know when you arrive (about 50 minutes of travel). Once you get there, walk thowards “Barro Blanco” (the road that has a speed bump), walk 100 meters and you will arrive.

(You can also get here by metro-cable or by taxi)

How can I get to al Bosque in my car or bike?

How can I get to al Bosque from “Las Palmas”?

If you come in your vehicle from Medellín and want come through “Las Palmas” you must get to “Indiana” mall and turn towards the airport, you go pass EIA and then you must deviate to cross to Santa Elena, you can do it by two routes:

  1. The first is “Perico”, it is a detour 6km after “Indiana” mall, it is on left after passing “Cantagirone Natura” (you can recognize it because there is a large abandoned building next to it).
  2. The second is “Pantanillo”, it is a little further on, it is an entrance that is in front of the “D1” supermarket.

Whichever route you take, you must follow it to the end, both end on Santa Elena road, then you must turn left and continue until you reach “El Silletero” (you can recognize it because there is a virtual roundabout there). turn right, in the direction of Arví park and continue for 2.4 km, until the intersection called “3 Puertas” (you can guide yourself by counting 3 speed bumps from “El Silletero”), at that point turn right and continue for 100mts and on the left hand is the entrance of the hostel with its respective sign.

How can I get to al Bosque from “Guarne”?

If you come in your vehicle from Medellín and want come by Guarne, you must take the Medellín-Bogotá highway, get to return #6, pass by and 100 meters later turn right towards Parque Arví. When you get to “El Tambo” (about 8 km away, you can recognize it because there is a virtual roundabout), turn left and continue for 7.4 km, after passing by a restaurant called “Donde Edward” you arrive at the intersection called “3 Puertas” (you can recognize it because there is a speed bump), there you turn to the left and continue for 100 meters and on the left hand is the entrance of the hostel with its respective sign.

How can I get to al Bosque from “Rionegro”?

If you come in your vehicle from Rionegro you must get to the airport roundabout and take the variant towards Medellín, then before going up the bridge that goes to the tunnel take the detour to the right, go down to the roundabout and take the road to Santa Elena (first exit from the roundabout), you pass the toll and continue for about 11 km until you reach “El Silletero” (you can recognize it because there is a virtual roundabout there), there you turn right, in the direction of Arví park and continue for 2.4 Km, until the intersection called “3 Puertas” (you can guide yourself by counting 3 speed bumps from “El Silletero”), at that point turn right and continue for 100mts and on the left hand is the entrance of the hostel with their respective sign.

How do I get to al Bosque by bus?

If you come by public transport, the easiest way to get there is by taking the Santa Elena bus in the center of Medellín on Carrera 50 with Calle 41 (half a block from “Placita de Flores”, https://goo.gl/maps/ GBwZ2jtS6a9Nw44DA), tell the dispatcher that you are going to “3 Puertas” so that he can tell you which bus to take, and then tell the driver to let you know when you arrive (about 50 minutes of travel). How do I get to al Bosque by “metrocable”?

If you want to come by “Metrocable” you must get to any metro station and take the cable metro that goes up to Arví park (Keep in mind that it only works until 6PM, that it does not open on the first business day of the week and that it has an extra cost) Once you arrive at the Arví station, you must walk about 200 meters to “El Tambo”, there you take the Santa Elena bus and tell the driver to drop you off at “3 Puertas” (it is about 7 km away and you can recognize them because they are a intersection with speed bumps), there you get off, turn to the left, walk for 100 meters and on the left is the entrance of the hostel with its respective sign.

How do I make a reservation?

To make the reservation, the first thing is to confirm the availability for the date and the type of accommodation you are looking for.

Then to confirm the reservation you must deposit 50% of the value of the reservation and voila …

 

But first, we want to be clear and there are a couple of points that you should keep in mind:

1-If you are a minor or you come with a minor, keep in mind that in order to accommodate minors it is necessary that they come with one of their parents or with a properly authorized responsible adult.

If the minor comes with a responsible adult, please let us know so we can guide you on how to do the authorization.

2-al Bosque is a hostel mainly to rest and relax, that is why we have a silence policy after 11PM where we turn off the music and we do not allow the use of any type of sound amplifier, so if what you are looking for is a long noisy night is probably better to go elsewhere.

3-We need you to be as sure as possible that you are going to come before confirming your reservation, because won’t refund money if you don’t show up, so if you are not coming alone share all the information with your companions and confirm that everyone can and wants to come.

4-If you confirm your reservation and for some reason you cannot come, you can reschedule your reservation up to 2 days before the day you reserved. Passing this period, you cannot cancel or reschedule. If you make your reservation less than 2 days in advance then you will not be able to cancel or reschedule it, so be sure you can come.

5-When you choose your date, the type of accommodation you want and you say you are going to reserve; You have a maximum period of 12 hours to confirm the reservation by making the 50% deposit, passed this time the reservation will be considered canceled.
